I'm suffering choice paralysis when it comes to choosing new light fixtures for my dining room, front entry way, and upstairs hall, all of which have really awful 70's era lighting right now. The decision is probably a long way off (I still have to recover financially from the a/c installation), but it never hurts to think ahead. ( Cut for boring home improvement musings )

It's amazing what a decent night's sleep does for one's mood. There's freezing rain outside, and my sidewalk was icy enough this morning to almost land me flat on my butt when I skidded across it. One of the things I've been planning to do when I move is replace my bookshelves, as the ones I've had were cheap, old, ugly, and (in some cases) about to fall apart anyway. I got home really late last night/early this morning, and went straight to bed without filling my usual bottle of ice water to keep beside the bed overnight. Washing dishes is my least favorite household chore. So, while waiting for my car, I finished touching up the paint on the bed frame, then got the window and door moldings sanded in the spare bedroom, and got tape and drop cloths down where needed.
